VBS Volunteer Roles
Name the jobs volunteers can sign up for, decide which appear on the volunteer form, and reuse last year's list.
A role is a job for the week — crew leader, station helper, snacks. Roles do two things: they are what a volunteer picks when they apply, and they are the job someone holds inside a crew. They are not permissions; a crew leader gets no extra access to Hubl.
What comes with a new event
A new VBS starts with three: Group Leader, Station Helper and Snack Coordinator. Rename them, delete the ones you do not use, add your own.

Tip
Order, edit, delete
The arrows on each row change the order roles appear in — on the volunteer form as well as here, so put the roles you most need filled at the top. Editing a role updates it everywhere, including for volunteers who already chose it.
Warning
Reuse last year’s list
Import from Event copies the roles from another event rather than retyping them. It brings the names and descriptions, not the people.
Roles in a crew
When you place a volunteer in a crew, their role travels with them, which is what tells a printed roster who is leading and who is helping. Auto assign can also be told which roles to include, so the people who only signed up for the snack table are not scattered across crews — see VBS groups.
Approving the people
Roles say what jobs exist. Who actually gets one is decided on the Volunteers tab of your roster, where applications are approved or declined and background checks are recorded — see Managing VBS registrations.
