Choose the tools your church needs

Hubl has tools for websites, events, VBS, giving, streaming, social media and more, and nobody has to use all of them. A church that only runs VBS can ignore the rest. Three separate things decide what you see, and they are easy to mix up:

Your picks decide what sits on your dashboard.
Your plan decides which tools you can open. The rest show a lock.
Each person’s role decides which areas they see at all.

Your picks: what is on your dashboard

During setup, What will you use Hubl for? asks which jobs you want to do. Those choices become your pinned tools. Pinned tools get a card under What would you like to work on? on your dashboard, and their widgets can be added there.

Pinning never hides anything. Every tool your plan and role allow is always in the admin navigation, under its area, whether it is pinned or not.

Open How it works

Choose Help at the bottom of the admin navigation, then How it works. Under Your tools, every tool is marked Pinned, Unpinned or Locked.

Pin a tool

Choose an Unpinned tool to pin it. It then appears on your dashboard for everyone in your church’s admin. Pinning needs permission to edit settings; without it, the page says an admin can pin it for you.

Note

There is currently no way to unpin a tool once it is pinned. A pinned tool you do not use only takes up a card on the dashboard, and it can stay there.

Your plan: why a tool has a lock

A lock means your plan does not include that tool. The tool still shows, so you know it exists. Choosing it explains what an upgrade adds and offers a free trial.

Free covers your website, events, VBS registration and check-in, the member directory and email.
Website adds online giving, forms, groups, attendance, teams and roles, sermons, outreach and your own domain.
Full adds live streaming, social media, integrations such as Planning Center, workflows, smart lists, tasks, custom fields and analytics.

Some things are add-ons on top of a plan, such as Cloud Recording Storage for keeping stream recordings, and text messaging. Current prices are on the pricing page. Your own plan and add-ons are under Settings → Subscription.

A role: why someone cannot see an area

A volunteer who only runs the live stream does not need Giving, and does not see it. Areas and tools a person’s role cannot reach are left out of their navigation entirely, not locked. If a teammate cannot find something you can see, the answer is their role, in People → Roles. See Teams and Roles.

Quick answers

“I can’t find a tool.” Use Jump to… (Cmd K or Ctrl K) and type its name. If it is not there, your role does not include it.
“It has a lock.” Your plan does not include it.
“It isn’t on my dashboard.” It is unpinned. Pin it from How it works.
