Communication

Print a newsletter

Print any newsletter issue as stapled letter pages or a folded booklet, or save it as a PDF.

Every newsletter issue you write can also go out on paper. The print edition uses the same words, pictures and button as the email, set in a newspaper-style layout: your logo and newsletter name across the top, the date and issue number under it, then the issue in columns that run from page to page. You don't lay anything out yourself. If you used Microsoft Publisher for a church newsletter, this replaces it.

Print an issue

1

Open the newsletter

From your , open Communication, then Newsletters, and choose the newsletter.
2

Choose Print next to the issue

Each issue in the list has a Print link. You can also choose Print edition while you write or view an issue. Drafts print too, so you can print before or after you send the email.
3

Pick the paper

Letter pages prints 8.5 × 11 pages in order, two columns to a page, ready to staple in the corner. Folded booklet prints half-letter pages, two to each side of a letter sheet, in the order that reads straight through once folded.
4

Print or save as a PDF

Choose Print or save as PDF. Your browser's print window opens with the paper size already set. Pick your printer, or choose Save as PDF to email the file or send it to a print shop.

Note

A draft prints what is saved. Save your changes before you choose Print edition, or they won't be on the paper.

Print a folded booklet

Turn on two-sided printing and leave it on flip on long edge, the usual default. Fold the sheets in half together, with the first sheet on the outside. Pages come in fours, so any left over at the end are blank. The print page shows each sheet unfolded, front and back, with every page named so you can see where it lands.

What prints

  • The top of the first page carries your church logo, the newsletter name, your church name, the date and the issue number. A sent issue is dated the day it went out; a draft carries today's date. Issues are numbered in the order they were sent.
  • Pictures print the width of a column. The header image of the Church newsletter layout prints across the page.
  • Links print their web address after the words, since nobody can click paper. The button prints as a QR code that opens the same page.
  • The last page ends with your church's address, phone and website.

Tip

A logo drawn in white or light colors would vanish on white paper, so the print edition leaves it out. Upload a dark version of your logo to print it.

Permissions

Anyone who can send newsletters can print them. That takes the Send messages permission.
