Live Streaming

My stream is offline, frozen, or disconnected

Find which part stopped — the servers, a destination, a camera, or your connection — from the message Hubl shows, and fix that part without restarting everything.

A broadcast has four parts: the streaming servers, the destinations (your watch page, YouTube, Facebook), the sources on your computer, and your computer’s connection. Hubl names the part that failed. Fix that part and leave the rest alone.

Tip

For problems with sound only — silence, distortion, dropouts — go to Fix stream audio problems.

Go live will not start

“Couldn’t start servers”

Pressing Go live first starts servers, shown as Starting streaming servers. If that fails, try again from the same dialog. It usually takes a minute or two, so starting early leaves time for a second attempt.

“Streaming provider is down”

The company that runs Hubl’s streaming servers is having an outage. The page may also show a banner naming the affected service. There is nothing to fix on your side. Try again when the banner clears.

“Streaming blocked — integration issue”

YouTube or Facebook failed its connection check. Choose Reconnect YouTube or Reconnect Facebook on the banner. If there is no time, open the gear, switch that destination off, and go live without it. Your watch page still works. To avoid this on a Sunday morning, see Check the connection before Sunday.

Go live is greyed out

The reason is printed beside the button, usually Add a camera or screen first. If you joined a broadcast that someone else started on another device, only they can start or end it. You are contributing to it.

A camera or screen went black

Each source has its own tile in Inputs. The tile tells you what happened:

  • Reconnecting… — Hubl is retrying the device on its own. Give it a few seconds.
  • No signal or Signal lost — the device is still connected but has stopped sending a picture. Check the camera’s power, cable and HDMI input first, then choose Reconnect on that tile.

Reconnect drops and picks up only that source. Your other sources, sound and scene are untouched. For a screen, the share picker opens again so you can choose the window.

Note

“Camera reconnect failed” usually means another app, such as Zoom or OBS, is holding the camera. Close it and choose Reconnect again. On a Mac, if Hubl was refused camera access, turn it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Your computer lost its connection

If the connection blips, Hubl reconnects by itself. If the broadcast is still running but this computer is no longer part of it, the bottom of the Control Room says Broadcast waiting and the main button becomes Rejoin broadcast. Choose it.

You closed the tab or the computer restarted

1

Open Streaming again

MinistryStreaming, or the home screen of the desktop app. The running broadcast is at the top.
2

Choose Rejoin broadcast

You go straight back on air. Add any sources that were on the computer that restarted, then check the scene.

Note

A network camera connected through Cameras keeps sending its picture while the computer restarts. If nobody rejoins, Hubl ends the broadcast by itself, usually within half an hour, so a forgotten camera does not stream all afternoon.

It says live, but nothing is going out

If Streaming shows a broadcast as live and you are sure nothing is being sent, choose Force end beside it and confirm. That marks it ended and shuts down everything still running for it: the recorder, the broadcast room, and any YouTube or Facebook broadcast. Recordings already saved are kept. Then go live again.

YouTube shows the stream as offline

YouTube can take 10–30 seconds to show a new broadcast. If it is still offline after a minute, check the top bar in the Control Room: YouTube must be listed after Streaming to. If it is not, it was switched off for this broadcast.

What viewers see

Useful when someone texts “it’s not working”. On your watch page:

  • Waiting for stream to go live… — you have not gone live yet, or the broadcast has not reached the servers.
  • Stream has ended. — the broadcast is over.
  • Offline — Playing back recording — they are watching the saved recording, not the live service.
  • Stream is unavailable. — their player could not load the video. Ask them to reload the page. If the live broadcast is fine for you, the problem is on their connection.
