Managing Bible Study Sessions

Save, organize, and share collections of Bible verses with personal notes.

What are Study Sessions?

Study sessions are personal collections of Bible verses that you save for later reference. Think of them as bookmarks for scripture — you can group verses by topic, sermon series, or anything else that helps your study. Sessions are private by default, but you can share them with others by changing the visibility setting.

Note

You must be logged in to create and manage study sessions. Searching and reading verses on the Bible Study page does not require an account.

Viewing Your Sessions

All of your saved sessions live on the My Sessions page. You can reach it from the Bible Study page header.

1

Navigate to My Sessions

From the Bible Study page, click the My Sessions link in the header bar. This takes you to a list of every session you've created.
2

Browse your sessions

Each session card shows the title, visibility level (Private, Unlisted, or Public), and the date it was last updated. Cards use the hard-shadow style so they're easy to scan.

Tip

The session count badge in the header bar updates automatically as you create or delete sessions, so you always know how many you have at a glance.

Inside a Session

Click any session card to open its detail page. Here you'll see every verse in the session displayed as individual cards. Each card shows the verse reference, the translation name, and the full verse text.

If you are the session owner, you'll also see controls for adding and removing verses, managing notes, and sharing. Visitors viewing a shared session see the verse content in read-only mode.

Adding More Verses

After creating a session, you can continue adding verses to it at any time using the verse lookup drawer.

1

Open the verse lookup drawer

On the session detail page, click the Add More button next to the verse count header. This opens the verse lookup drawer on the right side of the screen.
2

Search for verses

Use the same autocomplete search you're familiar with from the Bible Study page. Type a book name, pick a chapter, then choose a verse or range. Select a translation from the version picker if you want something other than the default.
3

Pin verses across searches

Each time you search, you can pin individual results. Pinned verses accumulate across multiple searches, so you can search for several different references before adding them all at once.
4

Click "Add to Session"

When you've pinned all the verses you want, click the Add to Session button at the bottom of the drawer. The verses are saved to your session and the drawer closes.

Tip

You don't need to add all your verses at once. Come back to the session any time and click Add More to keep building your collection.

Personal Notes

You can attach a personal note to any verse in a session. Notes are private to you — even if the session is shared, other viewers will not see your notes.

1

Add a note

Below any verse card, click Add a personal note. A text area appears inline where you can type your thoughts.
2

Save your note

Click Save to store the note. It appears below the verse text with a subtle background, along with an edit icon so you can revise it later.
3

Edit an existing note

Click the pencil icon next to a saved note to reopen the editor. Make your changes and click Save again.

Note

If the session owner included a note when saving a verse, it appears as a brass-accented callout above the personal notes section. Owner notes are visible to everyone who can view the session.

Sharing Sessions

Sessions support three visibility levels that control who can see them:

  • Private — only you can see the session. This is the default.
  • Unlisted — anyone with a direct link can view the session, but it won't appear in public listings.
  • Public — the session is visible to everyone.

You choose the visibility when you first create a session from the Bible Study page. The current visibility is shown as an icon and label in the session detail header.

1

Copy the share link

On the session detail page, click the Share button in the top-right corner. The current page URL is copied to your clipboard and a checkmark confirms the copy.
2

Send the link

Paste the link into a message, email, or social media post. Anyone who opens it can read the verses and the owner's notes (but not your personal notes).

Warning

The Share button only appears for Unlisted and Public sessions. If your session is Private, you'll need to change its visibility before you can share a link.

Deleting Sessions and Verses

You can remove individual verses from a session or delete an entire session when you no longer need it.

1

Remove a single verse

On the session detail page, click the trash icon on any verse card. The verse is removed immediately.
2

Delete a session

On the My Sessions page, click the trash icon on the session card you want to remove. A red confirmation panel appears asking you to confirm. Click Delete to permanently remove the session and all its verses, or Cancel to keep it.

Warning

Deleting a session is permanent. All verses and personal notes in that session will be lost. Make sure you no longer need the session before confirming.
